Security is very tight in Kampala and the sorrounding areas ahead of the presidential winner declarations slated for today at 4:00 pm.
With at least 75.89 per cent of the polling stations covered, incumbent National Resistance Movement (NRM) candidate, Yoweri Museveni leads with 61.05 per cent and the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) aspirant Dr Kizza Besigye is in second position with 34.94 per cent.
From the 7,822,737 votes counted so far, Mr Museveni has 4,549,148 votes and his four-time immediate challenger, Dr Besigye has 2,603,880 votes. There are 15,277,198 registered voters.
This means that for Dr Besigye to defeat Mr Museveni, he must win majority of the remaining 7,454,461 votes, assuming all the registered voters took part in February 18-19 voting, marred by ballot stuffing and unprecedented delays. EC is expected to announce the winner today at 4pm.
