Oxfam International executive director Winnie Byanyima and wife to former FDC presidential candidate Dr Kizza Besigye took to Twitter Thursday morning to announce her son’s victory of the Oxford debating club.
In a Twitter message Ms Byanyima, who seemed ecstatic, announced: “He’s (sic) won!” pouring out on her pride in motherhood.
“Anselm [Besigye, 16] elected president of his school debating club. “A proud mum (sic),” she said in a Twitter message.
Ms Byanyima has been instrumental in her son’s victory, assisting him to shoot campaign videos and readying him for previous debates.
In a video released on YouTube recently Ms Byanyima is seen braving a drizzle to help her son shot a campaign video in which he [Anselm] says he plans to host public exhibitions on hot button issues and current events as well as inviting speakers from around campus to join “in our beloved pizza parties so that we can get new debaters in the door”.
In 2014 at the Belmont Hill School, Anselm Besigye scooped a trophy in a school based debate about fundamental issues such as minimum wage for the working class people in society.
The debate in which the topic of discussion was to argue, whether the minimum wage in the US should be raised from $7.25 to $10.10, Anselm came out the best and was handed a trophy.
