Uganda’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs says it has sent out invitations to President Yoweri Museveni’s May 12 inauguration ceremony to, among others, U.S President Barack Obama and British Prime Minister David Cameron.
Both the U.S and the UK came short of congratulating Mr Museveni following his fifth term win in February this year.
Museveni has been president since 1986.
The foreign affairs ministry’s Permanent Secretary James Mugume further reveals all heads of states within the African Union (AU) have been invited.
Government spokesperson Ofwono Opondo says eleven heads of state have so far confirmed their attendance.
