NEMA meets West Nile leaders to build capacity in enhancing Sound Environment Management.

The National Environment Management Authority (NEMA) has today held a meeting with leaders from the West Nile, North and North Western Regions in an attempt to strengthen and build capacity in enhancing Sound Environment Management.

The Meeting was held at Arua District Council Hall and it was aiming at increasing the districts’ capacity to plan and implement environmental programmes at Districts and Lower Local Governments.

It should be noted that environment management in Uganda is largely decentralized to Local Governments and communities to promote public participation and involvement of the local people.

Public participation can greatly be enhanced when the Local Leaders are knowledgeable of their roles in Environment and Natural Resources (ENR) management and appreciate environmental issues/concerns.
