Vivo Energy launches road safety campaign #TWEDEKO

In a bid to continue with the fight against Road accidents in Uganda Vivo Energy Uganda in partnership with NTV has launched a road safety campaign called TWEDEKO –Every Life matters. Twedeko is a Luganda word meaning “Let us reconsider our ways”.
The campaign aims to use TV as a vehicle to educate and inspire people to change their behavior on the road.
It speaks to everyone who uses the road, as a pedestrian, a passenger or a driver and will use testimonials and pledges from responsible citizens, boda boda riders, taxi drivers and bus drivers who will challenge viewers about their behavior on the road.

Vivo Energy Uganda has on many occasions come up with campaigns aimed at reducing road accidents. In March 2014, Vivo Energy Uganda launched its Road Safety Education Programme. The initiative aims to reach at least five million people with road safety messages on radio; and to train 1200 school children and 1200 Bodaboda operators. In order to achieve this goal, Vivo Energy Uganda partnered with the traffic police, schools, Safe Kids Uganda and the media.

In the same year, Vivo Energy Uganda held a Road Safety competition involving 12 primary schools in Kampala.
This competition was the culmination of a training programme successfully conducted among the 12 competing schools as part of Vivo Energy’s Road Safety Education Programme. The training was moving on the theme “Training the Road Safety Ambassadors of tomorrow”.
