City Mogul Sudhir Ruparelia, Chairman for Ruparelia Group of Companies has been nominated for a prestigious female employers’ award 2017.
A source revealed that the event shall take place in Washington DC, USA in June this year. The Award is given to private employers who employ more women than men normally in thousands across Africa.
Sudhir was reportedly selected because he is the third biggest female employer in Africa.
“Out of the 7,000 employees across Sudhir’s business entities, over 65% are females,” a source further revealed to us.
The prestigious award comes along with a whooping $1m (over sh3.5bn) and we believe that Sudhir will be triumphant because he focuses most on women. On top of the $1m, a winner nominates his/her most loyal employee (female) who also bags $100,000 (over sh350m)
Sudhir is the proprietor of Rosebud, the country’s leading flower exporter which employs hundreds of women. More women work in his hotels like Speke Hotel, Kabira country club, Speke Resort Munyonyo and many more are employed in his other chain of businesses.
Women, especially in Africa still face various challenges and many of them are the sole breadwinners of their families.
We wish the City tycoon all the best.
