MANCHESTER UNITED have confirmed an agreement with Everton for the signing of Romelu Lukaku.
A statement on their website read: “Manchester United is delighted to announce that it has agreed a fee with Everton for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku.
“The transfer is subject to a medical and personal terms.
“A further announcement will be made in due course.”
Starsport understands the transfer is worth £75m.
Lukaku is now set to undergo a medical and negotiate personal terms but the move is far from certain.
That’s because news broke last night that Chelsea had matched United’s offer for the Belgian striker.
And the Red Devils hope Lukaku will be on the plane to America for their pre-season tour tomorrow.
United have offered Lukaku a long-term deal worth in excess of £250,000-a-week.
And it means their interest in Real Madrid striker Alvaro Morata is over.
United executive vice chairman Ed Woodward vowed to move ‘heaven and earth’ to beat Chelsea to Lukaku.
And it looks like the Red Devils are on the brink of achieving their goal.
United have already added defender Victor Lindelof from Benfica to their squad this summer as they prepare for a return to the Champions League.
