Readers, this week we are pleased to meet Mrs. Jyotsna Ruparelia, wife of one of Uganda and East Africa’s Billionaire Business Baron, Dr. Sudhir Ruparelia.
The immaculate couple was married on February 4, 1977 and together they have three children: Meera (married to Ravi Kotecha in 2014) is the eldest, Rajiv is their only son, and Sheena ( is married to Jay Sakaria ) is the younger couples youngest daughter

Sheena is a Senior Executive and an ace banker while Rajiv runs the Hotel Group, Schools, Victoria University as well as Crane Management Services and today is the face of the Ruparelia Group.

Meeting his future wife: Dr. Sudhir “In 1974, I met this most beautiful girl I had ever seen. She had a part-time job at a bank, while also doing studies. I was captivated. I managed to get an introduction. I hadn’t reached 20 years yet.
We courted for three years and then got married – Sudhir Ruparelia. It was a small function with the immediate family, a registry wedding”.
Jyotsna Ruparelia is the Chief Executive Officer of the Ruparelia Foundation, a Philanthropic arm of the Rurarelia Group that works to improve and promote health, education, sports, general welfare, poverty eradication, improve livelihoods, support the welfare of wildlife and preservation of the environment by fostering partnerships among businesses, corporations, with the government, non-governmental organizations and individuals.
The Billionaire Couple with a Golden Heart On December 18th 2014, a seven- year old girl in Mayuge district- Gloria Kyakuwaire, going through unspeakable pain due to an abnormal growth on her eye appeared in the local Ugandan daily newspaper (New Vision) calling upon Good Samaritans to help her get treatment so that she can lead a normal life and stay in school.

Jyotsna & Sudhir Ruparelia immediately took keen interest into the poor girl’s story and subsequently came out to support the girl’s operation and there after educate her.
According to Jyotsna all that was needed from the public is the Prayer for a successive operation and a quick recovery but other logistical help is covered by the tycoon. “All we need is the prayers we need from you is your prayer for a successive operation and quick recovery of the girl.” She said. “The act of helping others can create an improved sense of well-being. Knowing that you sacrificed something such as time, finances or property in order to help others in need can give you a sense of purpose in life or work and inner satisfaction.” Sudhir added.

There is hope for the visually impaired as the joint effort of the Ruparelia Foundation with support from their chain of companies have come up to support Seeing Eye.
Seeing Eye is a local NGO that provides Eye care services. In April 2016, Jyotsna & her Ruparelia Foundation donated eye medical and surgical equipment worth millions of shillings to Seeing Eye. Seeing Eye operates in the districts of Luwero, Kiboga, Nakaseke,Wakiso, Nakasongola and Kyankwanzi.
Mr. Edwin Nuwagaba of the CEO OF Seeing Eye said the donations cataracts are one of the problems mostly faces in these districts. According to the World Health organization (WHO), 51 % of the blindness is caused by cataracts which are treatable. “The only treatment that will target the cataracts is surgery,” said Nuwagaba.
