Victoria University Kampala is offering aspiring nurses, midwifes, nutritionists and public health scientists a chance to benefit from the Dr Sudhir Ruparelia Scholarship Grant. This is part of the University’s effort to promote health related education in the country.
Dr. Ruparelia, the proprietor of the Jinja Road based University introduced the scholarship grant last year. Health sciences courses are some of the most expensive in the country.
This hinders many aspiring from pursuing their dreams but now with this subsidy, students can join Victoria University and benefit from Dr. Ruparelia generosity. The grant covers 30 percent of student’s tuition fees.
Victoria University is an institution of higher learning licensed by National Council for Higher Education. To qualify for the Dr Sudhir Ruparelia Scholarship Grant, a candidate must be between the ages of 18 and 35 years, a Ugandan and possesses good matric results.
The candidate must also portray positive attitude, provide references, willing to give back to the community and able to maintain a GPA of minimum 3.5 throughout the program.
The application process includes filling and submitting an online or offline application and filling the scholarship form to show interest and confirm that you fulfill the criteria.
Thereafter, after reviewing your application, the scholarship committee will offer the scholarship to successful candidates.
Under the Faculty of Health Sciences, Victoria University offers courses like
Bachelor of science in nutrition and dietetics, bachelor of environmental health science, bachelor of midwifery science, bachelor of nursing sciences and bachelor of science in public health.
The faculty also offers a certificate in health, and short courses like comprehensive management of STI’s and HIV, public health in complex emergencies, public health surveillance and epidemic /outbreak management, nutrition surveys planning, management, data analysis using ena software, report writing and dissemination and public health nutrition.
