500 Graduate At UICT,Urged To Fight Joblessness

The youth emerging from higher Institutions of learning have been cautioned to stop the culture and mentality of looking at the government for jobs because they are not available anyway.

The words of caution were Friday made by the State minister for ICT Aidah Nantaba while officiating at the 12thGraduation ceremony for the Uganda Institute of Information Technology [UICT] Nakawa were over 499 students scooped certificates and diplomas among them 172 females and 327 males respectively.

Nantaba also woman MP for Kayunga district congratulated the students for having completed their courses and urged to them to move out and create own jobs a s opposed to looking at the government as sole employer.

‘’We wish to implore you  to move out of this place and create your own jobs because you have been trained and gained that much needed skills and stop the culture of looking at government for jobs’’ noted the iron lady Minister as visibly exited parents cheered on.

She commended the acting Principal UICT Irene Nakiyimba with her entire staff for tirelessly  implementing government programs of skilling Ugandans saying her ministry appreciates those efforts.

Nakiyimba in her remarks to the gathering copmmended the ministry of their tireless support of which has helped them to push on despite a number of challenges however she urged government to increase on the funding budget so that they can effectively implement their mandate.

‘’We thank our mother ministry and government for always coming out to support us in various ways however we appeal for further financial and logistical support in order for us to effectively implement our set goals and mandate’’ noted Nakiyimba adding that her Institution has capacity to offer specialized training programs across like ICT related courses among others therefore parents should send in more students for the vast opportunities at their disposal.
