I Am Still Learning From The Best In The Sport, Says Rajiv

Rajiv Ruparelia has not let success in his maiden two races get into his head but rather he is choosing to tread carefully as he integrates into the motor rallying fraternity of Uganda.

He launched his motor racing career in May when he launched his rally car, a VW Polo Proto at Speke Hotel’s Rock Bar & Grill.

He would later compete for the first time at Enduro Autocross Championship 2019 at Zion Estates in Ssisa. In that race, he finished second, behind seasoned race Ronal Sebuguzi.

And this Sunday, during his second race ever, Rajiv won the Federation of Motorsport Clubs of Uganda (FMU) Autocross Championship 2019 in Kayunga. This time he beat Ssubuguzi who finished third behind second placed Ponsiano Lwakataka.

Rajiv finished an impressive time of 05:18.5, ahead of Lwakataka’s time of 05:22.2 and Sebuguzi’s 05:24.5. Speaking to the press, Rajiv said: “I am still learning from the big old boys but I want to match the top five,”.

He said he will now prepare for the Pearl Rally; which also doubles as the Africa Rally Championship event and will be the fourth round on the calendar scheduled for August 2 to 4.

Rajiv received specialized training at the Rallystar Motorsport Academy in Johannesburg, South Africa. And with this experience he is giving the much needed artistry leadership of the increasingly people’s favorite team, Rajiv Ruparelia Rally Team, also known as Dabo Trabo.
