Shograph Concept’s Ian Manzi is such an entrepreneur that is skilled, creative and innovative. He is a challenging mind in nature in the Ugandan Music and Arts industry. Of course he is doing it along side other like minded persons who designed themselves as directors in the group.

 For, who can think of a single show where you can enjoy music, enjoy the fashion and culture, enjoy tradition, develop and promote your different musical talents, go shopping and even earn money in one place?

Okay, the answer to this million dollar question is ‘Short ‘Na’ Leesu show that ascends to the Ugandans every year. Very interestingly entertaining!

After three successful editions, the annual picnic style event Short_ Na- Lessu is back for it’s 4th Edition slated for Saturday August 24, 2019 and this time around the organizers are going bigger and making it better.

They will be serving you with such very fine melodies from local artists but this time around they have an international star who fits in perfectly with the show’s theme; Nigerian Star Nonso Amadi to headline the event. Nonso effect; “Nonso fits perfectly within our show theme.”

Boosted Ian Manzi the brain behind flying in the UK Nigeria star Nonso Amadi. “We did not just go out seeking for an international artist because we wanted one but he (Nonso) is a true representative of the Western and African music blend as demands our show.

Nonso is Nigerian based in the UK so you find that music appeals to both those that desire western and those that enjoy local music. Sponsored by Ciroc, the Short ‘n’ Leesu event incorporates fusions of modernity and ancient age focusing mainly on entertainment, culture and art taking place in one place at Ddungu Resort Munyonyo Lake side,

themed “Roots and Paradigms of Modern Living” Headlining the show, Nonso Amadi, born September 1, 1995 is a Nigerian singer songwriter and producer. His style of music blending both Western and African is therefore the reason organisers are flying him in.

He has garnered respect and admiration in Nigeria collaborating with some of the countries nuggets names such as Banky W, Maleek Berry and Juls. He will be performing alongside numerous Ugandan Artists like Kohen Jayce of Bantu vibes, Route 316 Band featuring DJ Siza am among very many others.

Charity work;

According to Manzi, Nonso is not only coming to perform at the show. “He asked us to engage him in charitable local activities focused on promoting local talent and musical projects.”

“Nonso wants to leave Uganda with an impact however small it will be. He is a well schooled artist, He is an undergraduate and he is currently doing a postgraduate so we think he is a role model to many. We shall therefore take him to visit schools children and will be talking to the kids there. He will also do some donations to the kids” Manzi explained to this website. As such, we as Short graphics concepts will also be doing charitable work and giving back to the local community.

Going Regional;

Manzi told this website that they, as organisers they hope to give the show a regional touch taking it to the other members of the region like Kenya and Tanzania.

Show Background and journey;

The show started back in 2016 with a small audience where Manzi and his other three colleagues from Buddo (Vacists) treated it as a vacists’ show at Kololo gardens in Kampala. Only 250 vacists turned up for the maiden event.

Along the way, the organizers changed the vibe and theme, switching even the venue to Munyonyo’s Ddungu resort in 2017. Here the numbers of revelers increased to 700 before growing to over 1000 fans last year (2018) at the same Munyonyo gardens.

For its good themes, the show has grown through leaps and bounds. Its not just a social event where you just watch and listen to the entertainment on the day but you also show case and socialise with people and friends and family.

Event security;

Well this is a million dollar question for shows both local and international. Short ‘n’ Leesu organisers are very aware of the security concerns. They therfore provide security through private security company gaurds, with more enforcement by ordinary and Marine specialised police officers.

The fact that the show is organised by the lake side, these police help secure lives of the revelers. However, why would an over 30 person become reckless with your life and act inhumane? Yes, alcohol is sold becuase the event main sponsor is Ciroc but should you just drink and lose sense? Please don’t bring the under 18 persons is a disclaimer from the sponsor-Ciroc.

To the adults, 

please come and enjoy because the show is open as long as you are 18 and above. There are those over 30’s. please come and get up to speed as well.

Come for Business/shopping;

The show organisers rent out stalls for exhibition to fashion houses and individuals at a small and affordable fee. Here exhibitors display and sell their attires made locally and according to the tradition of Leesu and those designer shorts.

“This is basically an opportunity for people to make some money at the show that pulls such a big crowd. You can buy a cloth at the rented stalls and keep up with the theme in case you came unprepared with the dress code.

The show is such a 12pm-12am experience. so you can enjoy the day shopping experience and then sit back, chill and relax in the evening listening to such soothing musical melodies from a pool of artists.

Collabos

“Our concept through this show is to promote the local music industry. As such when Nonso comes, he will also engage himself by doing collaborations with our both established and also up and coming artists.” Amanzi revealed to this website.

“Nonso is already an international and recorgonised artist so we think when he records collobos with our John Blaqs and others, they will have their music received and appreciated at the international stage.

Nonso has done shows in the UK, Canada and Nigeria so he is a big name already that could give international mileage to the local artist.

“Also, through these collabos we are giving a platform to develop talent and music locally.” Manzi noted. The event organisers will continue identifying talent giving upcoming artists this platform. “We have talent out there so when you come to our show you listen to this new guy’s music and wonder at it. So when we give them a platform here at this show we think we are giving what other people are not giving.”

“We are confident they are talented and here we help them get sponsorships and land managers to sign them. These would not have been scouted if it were not for this show. We also want to have Mc’s identified here.”

Uniqueness;

Mobile telecommunication giants MTN intends to include a silent disco theme this time round at the show. And they are not alone with unique themes. Event main sponsors Ciroc are proposing to have a games park where you can play or enjoy traditional games like omweso and dulu among others.

The event will be bankrolled by Ciroc as main sponsors. Radio city, MTN Uganda, Fenon events, Uganda’s number one makeup artist Mona faces and Saloon sparkles come in as co-sponsors this year. Tickets;
