He is finally here and no more doubts, Nigerian Toronto, Canada based star Nonso Amadi is here and promising big. He has promised to work and give Ugandans a life time show experience of his music when he performs this saturday at the 4th edition of Short ‘na’ Leesu.
“Come with your friends; come with your family and enjoy.” Nonso told the media and event organisers fused up with sponsors at the Forest Mall based club Icon in Lugogo, Kampala.
The event will be on at the Dungu resort Munyonyo beach.
The Afro fusion artist arrived in Kampala, Uganda on Tuesday night and was officially unveiled to the media and a sorted number of his music lovers and fans on Wednesday night in a presser where he promised to perform his best do on the show come Saturday.
“Kampala is beautiful. Its my first time in Kampala, Uganda but i am loving it. For the show just don’t miss because if you do you will miss an experience of life time.” Nonso promised with a lot of energy in him.
Who is Nonso
Nonso Amadi has Made His Unique Blend of Afro-Fusion, a style the artist cherishes a lot. The Toronto-based Nigerian artist does his own blend of afro-fusion by mixing influences from his Nigerian background with elements of RnB, soul, pop and much more.
His releases and production over recent years have made Nonso one of the standout acts from a new wave of young Nigerian and African artists experimenting and pushing boundaries in the World.
The 23-year-old artist just dropped his latest release, Free, a 6-song EP which features appearances from Mr Eazi on lead single “Go Outside” and Simi, who provides vocals on “Better.” The EP was entirely produced by Nonso himself, with a little help from British-Ghanaian producer Juls and AoD.
Talking about the title song the Free EP at the presser on Wednesday, said, “It started with me having this experience where I felt like, being in a relationship, there’s times where you might feel like you need a little bit of space. Maybe your partner is always around or something. And I felt like, “Okay, let me do a tape where it revolves around the other side of love where it’s a little too much for you. I need a breather sometimes.” But then once I began creating the tape, the expression free started to broaden into being free to create different genres and being just free from boundaries because there are things I was involving in the songs that weren’t my typical sound.”
Nonso lived in Nigeria for about 15 years and then moved to the U.K. for his undergraduate and then to Toronto for Master’s. He did his undergraduate programme in chemical engineering. And then his Master’s in engineering design. He is an Engineer.
Nonso’s EP is a refreshing, soulful, well put together in body of work. it’s a song that people enjoy listening to, whether you’re taking a drive in the night time or your favorite song comes up in the club. It’s a song for everybody on there. “I put a lot of thought into it and I’m definitely proud of it.” Nonso added.
